Where to start

Fall is here, it rains outside, and it is just about right time to start you genealogy quest.
Sometimes people ask us what is the best way to start. Here it is — take a cup of your favorite drink, a pen or pencil, print a form or two (this Fan Chart, free and easily googlable is my personal favorite). Then just start writing names of parents, and then their parents, dates of birth (and death) and places.
At some point you will find out that you do not know what to put in a square. Here you need to start asking questions. Parents and grandparents, uncles and aunts are a good fish to catch.
We will speak about talking nicely to your old grandma in our next post. You can always send us your questions. A lot of them are easy to answer.
